An elderly shopper was put in his place after he told a woman to ‘go back to Mexico’.

The man allegedly had a go at her children before the confrontation was caught on camera at a Menards hardware store in St Pauls, Minnesota.

Attorney general who keeps fighting Donald Trump's policies says he will run for Congress

The video, taken by the victim, opens with the man saying: ‘Go back to Mexico if you can’t follow the store rules. You’re scum, you’re just scum.’

They argue before another shopper who witnesses the confrontation walked over and tells the guy: ‘No matter what the issue is it shouldn’t be a race issue you piece of s***.

‘We’ve got enough problems in America for you to be talking like that, especially around children — is this what you want?’

He lowers his voice and immediately becomes more sheepish.

The witness continues: ‘You really think that’s appropriate for someone your age to say some s*** like that. Is that appropriate? I heard you from over here! He said something racist, it was stupid as hell. We’re not going to act like that, but this piece of s*** should set a better example for everybody in this store — for kids and everybody.’

He then points to the man’s wife and says she ‘should be embarrassed to hell’.

Staff eventually get involved and customers encourage them to call the police. The video ends shortly after.

It was posted on Facebook on November 18 by the victim’s aunt, who wrote: ‘So today my niece, nephews, & sister in law experienced a racial issue with this man at Menards & he had the audacity to try and tell my nieces and nephews what they should and shouldn’t be doing & not only that but “Go back to Mexico!” In a very well Hispanic populated neighborhood.

‘How sad it must be to be miserable and have such hate in your heart. Racism is something that is TAUGHT, & this is not okay. & no one should have to go through this. My sister in law is holding back her tears in this video obviously & what a man to say this to a woman who’s alone with her kids .

‘I️ am so thankful for the people who stepped up & gave him a piece of his mind, because he needs that. What a coward, I️ am in complete shock and disappointed that my nephews and nieces experienced that. HELP me share this, since this coward thinks he’s so amusing.’
