President Donald Trump denied a Washington Post story suggesting that he was close to “rescinding” his selection of Judge Neil Gorsuch for the Supreme Court.
“A story in the Washington Post that I was close to ‘rescinding’ the nomination of Justice Gorsuch prior to confirmation is FAKE NEWS,” Trump wrote on Twitter.
The story cites anonymous sources claiming that Trump was angered by Gorsuch’s failure to thank him properly for the nomination and his private criticism in a meeting with a Democratic senator about Trump’s tough rhetoric against federal judges. Gorsuch was approved as a Supreme Court Justice in April.
The Washington Post story itself acknowledges that it is “unclear” whether Trump was seriously considering rescinding the Gorsuch appointment or merely voicing frustrations with the headlines.
Trump, however, signaled his approval of Gorsuch.
“I never even wavered and am very proud of him and the job he is doing as a Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court,” he wrote. “The unnamed sources don’t exist!”:

At least 21,347 people have been killed in conflict, including more than 5,800 civilian adults and children who were directly targeted[i], despite the adoption of a UN Security Council resolution calling for a global cessation of hostilities some 90 days ago. Instead of a ceasefire, allowing countries and humanitarian organisations to focus on battling the COVID-19 pandemic, ongoing violence is pushing millions to the brink of conflict-induced famine and hindering the battle against the outbreak.
