“Amazing,” “incredible,” and “outstanding” were among the laudatory descriptions used by Mark Levin in praising President Donald Trump’s national security address on Monday.
Levin contrasted Trump’s national security strategy with that of Barack Obama’s during the Monday edition of his radio program: “I listened to president Trump’s speech, today. It was an incredible speech. It was an outstanding speech.”
Levin then quoted the headline of an article on Conservative Review, saying, “My buddies over at Conservative Review are correct. They wrote a piece over there … calling it ‘Trump National Security Strategy is Reagan’s third term.’ And it is. It is muscular, yet prudential national security strategy. Therefore, it quite different Barack Obama’s, which was oriented in appeasement, the surrender of national sovereignty, and capitulation.”
Describing Trump’s speech as “highly inspiring,” Levin framed his own alliance with Trump’s vision with an “85 to 90 percent” quantifier.
Trump’s national security strategy is an “extremely substantive, comprehensive, thoughtful document,” said Levin, casting is as “right on the money.”
“The president has laid out a successful, rational, thorough foreign policy agenda [and] national security agenda. What he said was profound and really put the nation back on the right path with respect to national security,” said Levin.
Conservatives of varying flavors should be happy with Trump’s national security approach and broader vision, said Levin: “You have to be very, very pleased right now with the direction that President Trump is taking this country, or trying to take this country.”
Trump’s successes, added Levin, were particularly noteworthy given opposition to him from politicians in both parties, the federal government, and the news media: “His first year has been highly successful, particularly when you consider the forces arrayed against him.”
Breitbart News’s Executive Chairman Steve Bannon has dubbed the aforementioned coordinated attempts to subvert the Trump administration as “the nullification project.”
Most “Never Trump” and “pseudo-conservative” news media figures, said Levin, were disingenuously opposed to Trump given their professional investments in seeking to sabotage his presidency:
People are attacking this man who would be celebrating this man if his name was Jeb Bush … [Donald Trump] is advancing the cause of liberty. He’s not a Code Pink Republican. He’s not an isolationist. On the other hand, he’s not a radical interventionist of the Lindsey Graham sort.
You’ve got neo-conservatives out there, among others, who are unappreciative or appreciative only in passing. I just think there’s so many people in the pseudo-conservative media who are personally vested in Trump failing because they wrote so many columns, or made so many speeches, or attended so many panel events, or think tank events, or were on Fox, or whatever, so thoroughly and completely against him, even up to the point of the general election. They wanted him to lose. They said they did, they voted for the third-party guy … That for their own careers, their own egos, and their own mindset, they cannot give Trump a break, and they’re not going to. That’s why they need to be dismissed.
“Never Trump” news media figures hostile to Trump needed to “wake up,” said Levin.
Levin described Trump as “the most conservative president since Ronald Reagan.” “Trump is trying to pull [America] to constitutionalism,” he added, after “Obama tried to pull America to the radical left.”

At least 21,347 people have been killed in conflict, including more than 5,800 civilian adults and children who were directly targeted[i], despite the adoption of a UN Security Council resolution calling for a global cessation of hostilities some 90 days ago. Instead of a ceasefire, allowing countries and humanitarian organisations to focus on battling the COVID-19 pandemic, ongoing violence is pushing millions to the brink of conflict-induced famine and hindering the battle against the outbreak.
