Nick Knowles has said he is ‘extremely hurt’ by accusations made by his estranged wife Jessica Moor on Twitter in which she accused him of ’emotional cruelty and abuse’.
The 30-year-old blogger also accused the TV personality, 55, of pulling funding for their three-year-old son Eddie’s private school education in a series of tweets in 27 January.
And according to The Sun, friends of the DIY SOS host said he is ‘hurt’ by Jessica’s allegations against him.
‘It’s just not true. Nick is one of the most generous men I know and has made substantial financial provision for Jess and Eddie as he does for other members of his family and his children,’ the source said.
‘He has put his other three children through private schools and he’s hardly going to make an exception for Eddie whom he absolutely adores.
‘He won’t be drawn into a public slanging match with Jess and wishes her nothing but the best. For heaven’s sake, he took her and Eddie on a fantastic luxury holiday to Barbados just a month ago as friends – hardly the actions of a selfish man who won’t pay the bills.
‘Jessica is just angry because she asked him to increase his already generous payments to her and he refused.’
The mother-of-one took to Twitter to ‘break her silence’ on the pair’s split – also accusing Nick of not buying the family a house.
Writing to her 5k followers, Jessica wrote: ‘As all parents can relate, children starting school is an incredibly emotional and happy time.
‘This year parents, including myself, were invited to make their state school preferences for Gloucestershire by 15 by January 2018 for their child’s chosen school.
‘I did not submit a submission for Eddie as as it has been long agreed by my (soon to be ex) husband that Eddie would be privately educated – a luxury he is in the position to afford, as he has done for all his other children.
‘As such, Eddie is enrolled to start private school this September (a school that me and my husband visited and chose together) except that he won’t as I was advised by my husband’s solicitor that this offer has been withdrawn… This is the straw that broke the camels back.
‘To add insult to injury – like many men in his position of wealth and power he has advised he will not pay any legal fees meaning that I cannot afford to fight for our son’s education.
‘My husband has also said he will not purchase a house… this is disappointing but not unexpected.
‘Since he was born my sole priority has been Eddie’s well being and I felt my silence was in his best interest but now I have to fight, which isn’t in my nature, but I’m fighting for my son. What mother wouldn’t.’
Jessica’s accusations followed what seemed like an amicable split between the former couple, with the pair even going on holiday together with their young son in December 2017.
Before that, Nick said on Lorraine in November 2017: ‘I can’t say enough about Jess. She’s the most amazing mum, she’s the most amazingly calm human being.’ He added of their split: ‘We’re working on our relationship is where we are. Our central point has to be our son Eddie and always has been. He’s a real joy and makes me smile every day.
‘Throughout our difficulties, Jess went through a terrible time with cancer and she’s now an ambassador for Jo’s Trust and she’s doing a lot of that work, so we are backwards and forwards from where we live to London all the time.’
The former couple married in Rome in 2012, before announcing they were separating in January 2016.

Fast cars, martinis and Bond girls are core parts of the formula for 007 films, but one of those elements is set for a change in the latest adventure.
Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who is working on the script for the 25th Bond film, is on a mission to make sure the movie will "treat women properly" – even if the spy does not.
Ahead of the release of the as-yet-untitled film, Waller-Bridge told Deadline: "There's been a lot of talk about whether or not (the Bond franchise) is relevant now because of who he is and the way he treats women.
"I think that's b*******. I think he's absolutely relevant now. It has just got to grow.
"It has just got to evolve, and the important thing is that the film treats the women properly.
"He doesn't have to. He needs to be true to this character."
Waller-Bridge says she intends to ensure the female characters, including those played by Lashana Lynch, Lea Seydoux and Ana de Armas, feel "like real people ".

She added: "I just want to make sure that when they get those pages through, that Lashana, Lea and Ana open them and go, 'I can't wait to do that'.
Sir Elton hits out at Russia for ‘cruel’ Rocketman censorship

Sir Elton John has criticised Russian censors for cutting gay sex scenes from the hit musical biopic Rocketman.
The critically acclaimed film charts the British singer's rise to fame, and its scenes of kissing and sex between men, as well as drug use, contributed to it earning a 15 certificate in the UK.
But in a bid to play down the sexuality of Sir Elton, played by actor Taron Egerton, for a conservative Russian audience, an estimated five minutes of footage was reportedly removed ahead of its debut in Moscow.
The Moscow Times quoted a Russian film critic who had seen the film at its world premiere in Cannes on 16 May as saying "all scenes with kissing, sex and oral sex between men have been cut", as well as a photo displayed during the end credits featuring Sir Elton and his husband David Furnish.
Sir Elton, 72, a prominent gay rights campaigner, released a joint statement with the makers of the film to accuse censors of being "cruelly unaccepting of the love between two people".
"We reject in the strongest possible terms the decision to pander to local laws and censor Rocketman for the Russian market, a move we were unaware of until today," they said.
"That the local distributor has edited out certain scenes, denying the audience the opportunity to see the film as it was intended, is a sad reflection of the divided world we still live in and how it can still be so cruelly unaccepting of the love between two people.
