Doctor Sleep, the highly anticipated sequel to The Shining, has received a creepy first trailer.

Based on Stephen Kings novel, Doctor Sleep follows an adult, alcoholic Danny Torrence (Ewan McGregor) who is tormented by events in his childhood, whose shining abilities re-emerge as he attempts to become sober.

The first trailer sees Danny greeted with Redrum scratched into the wall, along with numerous flashbacks to classic scenes from Stanley Kubricks The Shining.

Alongside Ewan McGregor, the film also stars Rebecca Ferguson, Carl Lumbly and Alex Essoe.

While the idea of delivering a sequel to a beloved classic may sound heinous, the film is directed by Mike Flanagan who received acclaim for Netflix horror series The Haunting Of Hill House.

Stephen King famously wasnt a fan of Kubricks interpretation of The Shining due to its differences with the novel, but McGregor has previously stated Doctor Sleep will be more faithful to the original book.

More: Ewan McGregor

Speaking with USA Today, Ewan said: I think he felt The Shining wasnt a faithful adaptation of his book. Our script is faithful to his novel.

But for one thing. And Im not going to give anything away.

Doctor Sleep is released in cinemas on 8 November.

Top Gun: Maverick Planning To Touch Down At San Diego Comic-Con

EXCLUSIVE: We are hearing buzz that Paramount and Skydance Media will be flying Top Gun: Maverick do..

EXCLUSIVE: We are hearing buzz that Paramount and Skydance Media will be flying Top Gun: Maverick down to San Diego Comic-Con for some kind of presence.

Non-studio sources tell us that cast from the pic are already booking hotels and tickets. Tom Cruise hasnt been confirmed exactly yet, but it wouldnt be a shocker if he showed up. Hes very good about event-izing his pics and made a big appearance at Paramount/Skydances Mission: Impossible – Fallout CinemaCon session last year. Top Gun: Maverick shot in San Diego last summer, so its a pretty special place for all those involved in the Paramount-Skydance production. Today CineEurope attendees in Barcelona were the first to see two minutes of footage from the film, which opens on June 26, 2020. Note things could always change. We heard very early on that Dwayne Johnsons Fighting With My Family was going to Sundance with him in tow, however, it wasnt until the New Year that he was fully committed given his working schedule.

The last time Paramount and Skydance made a splash at Comic-Con was with the 2016 movie Star Trek: Beyond which made its world premiere there with an outdoor screening accompanied by the pics talent and a live orchestra playing the score throughout the movie.

In a big way Paramount was one of the first studios to venture down and leverage the fanboy population at SDCC when they were still releasing the Marvel movies, i.e. Iron Man, Thor, etc during the early aughts.

Three years after Himesh Patel left EastEnders for the bright lights of Hollywood, it seems the move has paid off.

The 28-year-old, who starred as Tamwar Masood, has the lead role in Danny Boyle and Richard Curtis upcoming comedy Yesterday and will next appear alongside Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones in Oscar bait drama The Aeronauts.

But with new show boss Kate Oates bringing back other beloved characters such as Bianca Butcher and Sean Slater, would Himesh be down for a return to the square after last being mentioned in February 2019, when Tamwar called Mick Carter to announce he and Nancy are engaged?

Well, yes and no.

Himesh told Metro.co.uk that there would only be one story that would allow him to consider a return to the square: If we all came back, the family who originally joined in 2007.

If we came back and we were the main storyline for a week.

But when pressed if he would be happy to therefore return if it was just for one week, he added: I am not saying I would definitely be happy to do it. But hypothetically speaking, yes.
