BREAKING: Sean Parker has become a minority equity investor in Weta Digital, the Wellington, New Zealand-based company formed by Peter Jackson and led by Senior Visual Effects Supervisor Joe Letteri that does the visual effects for some of the biggest event pictures being made by Hollywood studios, including Avatar and its upcoming sequels, Avengers: Endgame, The Lord of the Rings, Planet of the Apes and The Hobbit trilogies.

Parker, best known for his role at the forefront of such disruptive entities as Facebook and Napster, has made a made a significant investment in the company, which will use the funds and his influence to continue to build the enterprise into the future. Weta Digital has realized the creation of everything from Gollum to Caesar, Middle earth and Pandora over the past quarter century. Peter Jackson built the enterprise to keep up with the needs of The Lord of the Rings films, initially reinvesting funds from those films to grow. The ambitions grew organically. Wetas development of the revolutionary virtual production workflow for Avatar firmly integrated these digital techniques into modern filmmaking. They have now been used on a dozen films at Weta alone.

Parker and Peter Jackson got to know each other through Screening Room, the venture capital play that aspires to bring first run films through a secure set top box into the homes of 25-45 people who have the financial means to afford to pay premium prices to watch new films, but have disconnected from moviegoing because they are raising kids or are otherwise distracted. Parker and Prem Akkaraju are still working on that service. Jackson, who has stock in the company, believes in the mission. Screening Room is completely separate from the Weta Digital development, but that is how the pair met several years ago.

Retirement is going well for Bond then (Picture: MEGA)

Daniel Craig has been left bruised and bloodied on the set of Bond 25, No Time To Die.

Yep, despite retiring to Jamaica at the end of the last film, Spectre, hes definitely no longer living the quiet life.

The James Bond star is currently filming in Matera, a rocky outcrop in southern Italy and has been pictured in the middle of a brutal battle with an opponent that leaves him without a jacket and more than just a little banged up.

Production is steamrolling ahead in the country for the 25th offering of the titular character, this time directed by Cary Fukunaga.

Set pictures from earlier in September showed Craig in the same outfit, and alongside his body double so Bond fans seem to be in store for one heck of an action sequence.

Lea Seydoux has also been pictured on set, with recent pictures showing Craig and Seydoux getting to grips with one another in an intimate scene shot.

The Secret Garden is being made into another film adaptation but this time its more magical and stars Colin Firth.

What more do you need?

As with any reboot, there will be a new spin on the story and just from the trailer, it seems the garden is ridiculously large.

Frances Hodgson Burnett released the classic book in 1911 and there have been a few adaptations along the way.

The last time the book was adapted for the screen was in 1993 and there was a steampunk update in 2017 but we dont think anyone wants to talk about that.

Maggie Smith and Kate Maberley starred in the 1993 adaptation and did a phenomenal job at keeping to the original book.

The young actress will also be in the Game of Thrones prequel (Picture: STUDIOCANAL

Julie Walters
Julie Walters has been in Mamma Mia with Colin Firth (Picture: STUDIOCANAL

However, it seems the new film might be more loosely adapted from the book, as the existence of CGI will be able to make it more exciting for fans, and it has been brought forward to 1947 England, on the eve of Partition in India, and in the aftermath of WW2 in Britain.

The new childrens movie will be introducing a lot of bright young stars who are on the rise.

Dixie Egerickx stars as Mary and she will be joined by Amir Wilson as Dickon and Edan Hayhurst as Colin.

These stars are already doing wonders with acting as Dixie will be appearing in the Game of Thrones sequel and Amir will be seen in the His Dark Material series.

We cant have a ridiculous film being made without some ridiculously celebrated British actors as part of the mix.

Colin Firth (Archibald Crane) and Julie Walters (Mrs Medlock) will be playing the key adult roles, so not to worry, folks, this film will be great.

The Secret Garden hits UK cinemas on 17 April, 2020.

EXCLUSIVE: After winning an MTV Video Music Award for bringing his vision and humor to the video for Lil Nas Xs remix of “Old Town Road” with Billy Ray Cyrus, director Calmatic is looking to celebrate with a party…a House Party to be specific. The music video director will make his feature directorial debut with the forthcoming reimagining of the comedy classic House Party at New Line Cinema.

The remake from SpringHill Entertainment will be cut from the same cloth as the original 1990 comedy directed by Reginald Hudlin and starring Christopher “Kid” Reid and Christopher “Play” Martin of the rap duo Kid N Play (it was also a dance shown in the pic). The movie, which told the story of a house party to end all house parties, was drenched in 90s hip hop flair and featured Martin Lawrence and Tisha Campbell-Martin before they went on to star in the hit Fox TV series Martin.

The movie became a huge success and spawned two sequels: House Party 2 in 1991 and a third installment in 1994. The movie continued to party on with a direct-to-video sequels House Party 4: Down to the Last Minute in 2001, which did not include any of the original cast. The fifth installment House Party: Tonights the Night was released in 2012 and saw the return of Kid N Play to the franchise.
